n order to set up email on your mobile phone, you first must have a smartphone that is email-enabled through a built-in application or one you can download from an app store. Almost all modern smartphones are produced with one of the two reigning mobile operating systems: android and iOS. In this blog post, we’ll explore the fundamentals of connecting these devices to the most popular email services.

Android Email Setup

  1. Go to “Settings.”
  2. Select “Accounts & sync.”
  3. Select “Add account” at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Select “Email.”
  5. Select “Other.”
  6. Enter your email address and password.
  7. Select “Next” at the bottom of the screen.
  8. Select IMAP4 or POP3 and tap “Next” at the bottom of the screen.
  9. Under “POP3 server” or “IMAP4 server,” depending upon your choice on the previous screen, enter “mail.youwebsiteaddress.co.za
  10. Scroll down and enter your username (your FULL email address).
  11. Enter your password if not already filled in.
  12. Select “Next.”
  13. Under “SMTP server” enter “mail.youwebsiteaddress.co.za
  14. Scroll down and ensure that the “Require sign-in” box is checked.
  15. Enter your username (your FULL email address).
  16. Enter your password if not already filled in.
  17. Select “Next.”
  18. Once setup is complete, enter a name for the account (can be anything) and select “Done.”
  19. Open the Email app and select the new account to check your email.

iphoneiOS Email Setup

  1. Go to “Settings.”
  2. Select “Mail.”
  3. Select “Accounts.”
  4. Select “Add Account.”
  5. Select “Other.”
  6. Select “Add Mail Account.”
  7. Enter your name, email address, password, and a description for your account. The description can be anything you choose.
  8. Select “Next” at the top of the screen.
  9. At the top of the following screen, select IMAP or POP.
  10. Scroll down and enter the following info under both INCOMING MAIL SERVER and OUTGOING MAIL SERVER (both are the same).
    • Under host name enter “mail.youwebsiteaddress.co.za
    • Under username, enter your FULL email address.
    • Enter your password.
  11. Select “Next” or “Save” at the top of the screen. If verification is successful, your account will be added. If not, you will be asked to edit the settings.
  12. Once successful, you can access your new email account through the Apple Mail app.

There are hundreds of mail applications that can enable your smartphone with additional email features. Most common email providers (Outlook, Gmail, Aol, Yahoo, etc) can be added in a similar manner stated above via the built-in email application.
